Iggy Winning the National Title

Phoenix Sports Technology was kind enough to send us a copy of Iggy crossing the finish line to win the National title.

E-mail from Iggy Pop

I can't resist the Iggy Pop thing, I hope some of you get it, this is the last time. I just got this email from Iggy's dad and thought I should post it in its entirety...

Ted,
we are home. I will call you as soon as I get home. I'm at the coffee shop. Guess What? We just got word yesterday at about 2:p.m. that your boy has been selected to represent the U.S. National team in Belgium. Check this out, he leaves July 31st on our Saint Day which is San Ignacio de Loyola, also if my father were alive today he would be 97 yrs. of age on that day. So not only do we want to thank the people in Colorado who have selected Iggy but first and foremost God for giving Iggy the strength and the ability to keep going. And to my Dad Iggy's grandfather who would always play cards with Iggy while holding him in betweeen his legs and letting him win. On the day that Iggy will be in the sky to Belgium we would like to wish Grandpa a Happy birthday and Happy Saint's Day. Thank you everyone for believing in us we will not disappoint you. After all you can't loose when you have God on your side.

Daddy Iggy

P.s. Son I'm proud of you.

USA JR NATIONAL CRITERIUM CHAMPION!!!!

Justin was unable to race due the the major crash the day before. He was airlifted to the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery

I just went out to my car to get my cell phone and no sooner did I pick it up, the thing rings. It is Big Iggy calling from Pennsylvania, and all he says is,"Iggy won!". What an amazing feat, we are so proud of him. Iggy put little Iggy on the phone, and as usual, he was cool as a cucumber. The Kid cracks me up. I will post photos as soon as I get them. Here are the results...

The Two Iggy's Return to Pennsy

I spoke with Iggy late yesterday and they made it back to Pennsylvania safe and sound. Iggy said it wasn't too hot and the humidity wasn't so bad. He has a whole week to acclimate for next weekends events, so that should be good.

I wanted to thank Seven Spring Mountain Resort for helping make the Silva's stay a nice one, not only this year, but last year as well. Iggy Sr. said the people at the resort are awesome and need to be acknowledged. A big thank you goes out to the following people(I am sorry if I am forgetting some of you).

Melissa and Rob
Rachel
Jennifer
Dubbie

As always, I will keep you updated with Iggy's results.

Thank you for reading.

Madison Photos by Amara Boursaw

Amanda Boursaw was kind enough to let us use these photos on the blog for free. She is a young college student who takes photos at cycling events to make money for college. Iggy Racing would like to thank her for her generosity. Check out her site for some awesome photos.

'The Diesel' has got nothing on 'The Freight Train', Justin Williams of Team Rock. You really need to see this kid ride in person.

I may be a bit biased, but this kid has one of the smoothest pedal strokes I have seen

I've said it before...It is awesome how these kids are all such great friends as well as competitors

Nationals Update!

Junior Nationals Team Pursuit Champions!

I can't help but think...any of these kids could snap my legs off

Iggy, Justin Williams, both of Rock Racing, Nik Reinert and JP LeClair won Gold in the Team Pursuit. Not only did they win, but they won by over 5 seconds. Talk about killing it. We here at Iggy racing are ecstatic. Tonight is the scratch race and Iggy may stay through tomorrow to race with the Elites before moving on to Pennsy. I will keep you all updated and post photos as I get them.

Iggy and his number one fan. Pops.

Anyone who shows off road rash so proudly is ok in my book

Jr. Nationals Update

Just a quick update for those of you who don't want to go to the USA Cycling website...Iggy placed...

5th in the points race. A bit of gear choice confusion could have cost some places. I think Iggy was the only 16 year old on the podium, but don't quote me on that. Regardless, watch out for the Kid next year. You can take that tip to Vegas.

2nd in the Madison with Justin Williams. GO TEAM ROCK!!!

Good job Iggy, we are all very proud of you!

Iggy's Daddy got most enthusiastic parent...like we didn't already know that? I think he earned that crown years ago and has never given it up. Too bad we all didn't grow up with fathers who cared so much.

Tomorrow is the Team Pursuit and the Scratch race. I will keep you posted.

Some Fun Photos From Jr. Nats

Iggy's Dad sent me some photos he took at Jr. Nationals in Colorado. Here are a couple of my favorites.

This photo really says a lot about the atmosphere at Jr. Nats. This photo tells me that not only do these kids compete against one another, but are friends with one another as well. Priceless photo. Makes you want to be a kid again, doesn't it?

This photo is on Coryn Rivera and her family. They sat in front of us at Jr. States in San Diego. This young girl beats grown women in Road, Track and even Cyclocross races. She totally rocks!

"El Latino" Article en Espanol...

"El Latino" did an article on Iggy on the 29th of June. Brush up on your Spanish and read it, por favor.
